New Delhi, July 9 (NNS)Edible oil prices moved northward substantially in the week ended on Saturday on the oils and oilseeds market owing to stockists taking cautions in offerings in the wake of rains disrupting supplies of oils from flood hit Gujarat and other regions. The market sentiment firmed up despite reports that in Malaysia prices of RBD palmolein became cheaper by $5/7 at $430 per tonne. Prices rose sharply due to continued demand from stockists and vanaspati millers. Groundnut oil settled at Rs. 5250 on Saturday from previous week closings of Rs. 5150 per quintal. In Gujarat the oil shot up from Rs. 5100 to Rs. 5240. Mustard oil registered gains of Rs. 100 at Rs. 4100. Soya, cottonseed and sesame oil gained ground by Rs.20/40 per quintal.
In oilseeds, 42 percent conditioned mustardseed, on limited inflows went up by Rs. 60 to Rs.1825 per quintal. Cottonseed was up sharply by Rs.120 at Rs.1000 per quintal.
