Delhi, July 9 (NNS)The domestic spices and dry fruits
market witnessed smaller demand from upcountry regions
due to heavy rains and since stockists continued
the selling of inventories to attract buyers, prices
tumbled down and finished the week to Saturday with
heavy losses. Traders said that fresh deals for
neighbouring states were not being done much due
to adverse weather conditions.
Unabated rains for three days in the week impacted,
offtake and activities were at a standstill. Hence,
turmeric, zeera and water melon kernel ended with
losses of Rs.100/300 at Rs.2600/4100, Rs. 7200/8200
and Rs. 4500/4600 per quintal respectively as compared

higher on the back of meagre stocks and limited
inflows from Chattisgarh and Assam and closed with

was expected to firm up on account of Sharwani festival.
Dry ginger jumped up on the back of declined inflows
to the market here and also to Cochin and Sagar
advices and prices flared by Rs.500/700 at Rs. 14700/17500
per quintal. In producing centres, dry ginger skyrocketed
to high level and gained Rs. 800/100 per quintal
on supply concerns.

absent mainly due to heavy rains. Hence, almond
girdi closed sharply lower at Rs. 3650 against Rs.
3850, a fall of Rs.200 per 40 kgs. Almond kernel
California ended higher by Rs.4 at Rs. 459/460 per
kg. on festive demand. Dry dates red also lost Rs.200
at Rs.2200/4000 per quintal due to low demand and
expected imports from Pakistan. Pistachio edged

of buying and support from halwais and confectioners.

per quintal. Walnut kernel, however, moved higher
at Rs.250/350, up by Rs.30/50 per kg. on offtake
