Born in the year 1909 at village Patti Kalyana, (Haryana), Shri Neki Ram Gupta had a very humble beginning. After completing his schooling at Sonepat, he joined college at Lahore. At the age when the support of father is so crucial, even this precious loss did not deter him from carrying on his studies. He waded through all the hardships with aplomb. To earn his livelihood he had to join the Indian Railways as a goods clerk. Despite in service, he actively took part in the freedom struggle movement. It was during this time that he became interested in writing. Few words about the Chairman

Journey Starts After seeing that there was
no trend of giving market rates or commercial news in newspapers, Mr.
Gupta, in the year 1954 started a weekly newspaper, the Indian Market.
This newspaper highlighted the market rates and reports of various mandis
of different cities. However, the newspaper couldn’t survive for long
due to financial problems. It was during this period that a printing press
— the Indian Market Printing Press was started but it also met an end.
However, the reporting still continued unstoppingly
NNS Comes into being The continued struggle in the field of commercial journalism finally led to the origin of NNS in the year 1962. At that time it had only three-four newspapers as its subscribers. These were, the Tribune, Hind Samachar, the Statesman and Navabharat Times. However, soon after getting accredition, the subscriber base expanded considerably. Besides the services being provided in Hindi and English, the services were also rendered in Urdu and Punjabi languages. However, since the offing, NNS was never in profit and always faced a severe shortage of funds. To augment the financial position, a one page Hindi Daily Vyapar Bharati was started in 1972 on Cyclostyle Machine. During this period, Mr. K.S. Gupta travelled widely throughout India. He met various people associated with trade and commerce which helped him immensely in feeling the pulse of the market. During this time the family met with Seperation with his other brothers as a result, the NNS now became the asset of Mr. K.S. Gupta. Later on in the year 1983, he also started Vyapar Kesari a Hindi Business Daily as one of the publications of NNS. The Success Journey Continues With NNS under the able guidance of Mr. Kesar Singh Gupta, growth came naturally. Losses incurred were now some what managed. Communications done with the editors of various newspapers also met with success. The significance of Business page was well understood consequently, the services of NNS now began to be subscribed by many newspapers. Although news agencies such as UNI, PTI etc. also covered trade and commerce but the need-based information on various commodities definitely gave NNS a leading edge. Today, through its wide network NNS covers all the leading trading centres such as calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi etc. and provides exclusive market information. Fresh ideas and innovations have always been a part of NNS and with time NNS has also tried to update its service. NNS, today, is the only News Service which focuses on commodity market. Although, restrained by meagre funds and no external support, NNS still is proudly marching ahead on the road of success.
